Canary Wharf’s One Park Drive is the tallest residential building in London, and it’s just been crowned Best Large Housing Scheme at the prodigious 2022 New London Awards.
Comprising 484 luxury homes and featuring a range of five-star facilities, One Park Drive was developed by the Canary Wharf Group as their flagship apartment block. Designed by Herzog and Meuron, this remarkable circular and geometric tower provide every single resident with a view of the London skyline and an exclusive sheltered terrace. The New London Awards have been run by New London Architecture (NLA) for almost a decade now. World leaders in the study of excellence within the built environment, they recognise the most innovative, high-quality projects planned or completed each year. The Best Large Housing Scheme award is specifically focused on multi-unit residential projects, including open-market-value projects and affordable housing developments. They also look to support and celebrate ventures which help keep London a sustainable, equality-driven city that respects the combination of both old and new architecture.
One Park Drive is part of Wood Wharf, an area that continues to see the benefits of extensive investment, with an extra 3,600 new homes, 350,00 sq.ft of shops and restaurants, plus new schools, office space and an NHS surgery currently being developed. Over recent years, Canary Wharf has become one of the capital’s most exciting districts. Now so much more than simply a financial hub, it’s become known for its excellent shopping, restaurants and bars. Meanwhile, nightlife in the area is synonymous with live music and al fresco dining, whilst during the day the many free art trails draw visitors from across the city.
Our view is that One Park Drive is a well-deserved winner. An outstanding 21st living environment, it features a range of amenities that really enhance the lives of all the people who live there. These include a health club, library, cinema room and private lounge. It’s also great to see Canary Wharf continue to thrive, becoming ever more popular with each passing year.
